Social Network Marketing And What It Can Do For You

Most people ask the wrong questions when talking with marketers: “How can you make money off social networks?”

The value is placed on social networks such as MySpace, Orkut, Friendster, LinkedIn, Mixx, Stumbleupon, Reddit, Twitter and Flikr, while ignoring the real reason these networks were setup and how you can use those ideas to help your business

The top social networking websites which are Myspace, Orkut and Friendster were founded as a way to stay in touch with friends and family and to meet new people online that all share the same ideas. LinkedIn has a similar slant – it is great for entrepreneurs and professionals who want to keep track of their contacts for hiring / outsourcing. Flicker is just a blindingly simple tool for sharing photos.

The success of social networks marks a dynamic shift in how people are using the Internet. We have evolved from just searching for information to creating and participating in social spaces with other individuals through the Internet. This model is based upon the hive mentality where people identify themselves as part of a group with similar likes and interests that draw them together.

Social networks make viral marketing and word-of-mouth marketing much easier than before. The best use of social networks is not to make money ‘directly’ off them, but to harness their marketing potential and to use them to market your own business. The best way to do that is to optimize your website (including the process of link building) for your target keywords.

Online social networks present an efficient platform for you to use in the spread of your marketing message. In addition, they are also a great tool for getting tons of visitors and thousands of page views to your site.

What this all means is that you need to devote more of your attention towards how you can leverage the traffic you do receive from these sources. To do that, you should allow your visitors to create their own social network centered on your niche topic. The power of this cannot be missed since social networks allow for multiple points of connections between almost anyone on Earth, giving them the ability to find, share, enjoy, and track anything and everything that tickles their fancy.

Social network marketing works in the exact same fashion, except people choose to provide your link without being asked to do so, and places like del.ici.ous, Digg, Blogpulse, and Technorati give them the ability to do that. In offline terms, that means turning towards your friends and family to ask for their opinions. Online, it means turning towards a group of trusted people whose opinions and recommendations you value.

In fact, in lots of cases, you’ve probably done some research on your own, using the traditional search engine marketing model and then turned to a social network that you’re a part of to validate your findings and complete your research by getting their experiences and opinions about the topic. This is social network marketing at work in its purest form.

Online social networks provide the platform needed to speak out (if they are so inclined) or to simply watch the conversations as they happen.

Social network marketing has become a fixture in the promotional plans of many businesses with every indication this trend will continue to grow. Online social networking is being adopted at an increasing rate by businesses located both on and off the internet. Although there is an investment of time required to be effective when using online social networks for promotional purposes the benefits are well worth it. Like any other component of an effectively run business you do want to get maximum results from any time invested when using social network sites for business purposes.

Here are 5 strategies to use to make sure you are getting the most out of your efforts when using social network sites as part of your online marketing strategy.

Keyword Use

Online social networking involves the use of text. If you are conducting business any content whether it is information, links or websites should contain the proper keywords. Just like any other areas of your online marketing strategy keyword use and placement is just as important when ‘visiting’ social network sites.

Create Compelling Bios

Consider your profile or the bio you create at any of the social network sites more like a banner ad. You want to create curiosity or interest but also maintain a professional tone or at least a tone applicable to what your business is. The use of a picture is also recommended since this helps put a ‘face’ on the person in the profile and serves to personalize it.

Remember these are social sites first so treat them as such!

Connect in ‘Key’ Locations

Online social networking does involve the investment of time so consider this when choosing those sites you want to work. Spread your self around as much as time will allow (but not too thin) to popular/key sites that best fit your application/needs.

Connect With ‘Key’ Players

With so much content ‘racing’ thru the system it can be easy for yours to be overlooked. Establish a connection with some of the more formidable and identifiable figures in your field. Your connection with them gives you a second chance at exposure and makes it harder to be overlooked – this also tends to increase your credibility within the field thru your ‘association’ with key figures.

Encourage Others to Share Your Content

Remind people that if they find your info interesting perhaps their friends will also. Do not forget the power behind viral marketing and remember these are ‘networking’ sites so network!

Social networking marketing has embedded itself deeply into the fibers of businesses both on and off the internet. The ability to reach a global audience involving little cost other than time has helped to explode the popularity of online social networking. Making the best use of time however should not be overlooked for any business using online social networks. The 5 strategies offered above should help to better optimize the time invested and the results you get using social networking as part of your online marketing strategy. After all for any business time is money!

Online Secrets to Making Money Now with FREE Social Network Marketing

Online Secrets to Making Money Now with FREE Social Network Marketing

Are you looking for different websites where you can advertise for free and use your Internet marketing skills?  Then, you may want to check out social networking websites. But, before you start using social networking websites, you will need to know what social networking websites are, their intended use,  and how you can effectively use them to put FREE advertising profits in your pocket. First and foremost, a social networking website is a place where huge numbers of people go to hang out, communicate and interact online. People spend hours with friends, family and acquaintances, chatting and/or viewing each other’s videos on various topics of interest.

Given the fundamental nature of social networks, you can easily understand how this kind of “large” social exchange can potentially help your online business. Basically, marketing and advertising is a numbers game, and if your business is online, you’ll want your ads displayed where there are a lot of people. The large numbers of people in a mall are analogous to the traffic you’ll find at social networking websites.

Smart internet marketers know that if masses of people congregate at these sites, then these are potential advertising goldmines. Proof of this is aptly explained in one of this year’s best selling books at Amazon.com, entitled, The Social Media Bible: Tactics, Tools, and Strategies for Business Success, by Lon Safko (author), David Brake (author). The key challenge with social network marketing is to advertise on these sites without being perceived as an advertiser. Obviously, there is a right way and a wrong way to do this. You can’t blatantly advertise on these sites, because these are purely social networking environments.

Take MySpace for example, as a very popular and prominent social networking website. You cannot sign up with a profile called, “Jack’s Online Meat Market”, and then direct MySpace users to your website, by openly telling them about your business. This approach is not accepted at social websites. But, by contrast, if you want to advertise on MySpace, you can communicate your desire to the people who run the site. Simply tell them you wish to advertise, and ask them about their advertising rates and cost for single and multiple ads.

When thinking of free internet advertising and the use of social network marketing, remember, there are numerous social websites where you can spread your “suggestive” word. This is an ideal opportunity to use your effective Internet marketing skills, where you need the large volume potential of targeted, ”social networkers”. To be successful with social network marketing, you have to adapt to the social website environment. Therefore, your social network marketing strategies must embody these key principles. Your interactive approach must be genuine, cordial and friendly, with a “sharing and giving attitude” for whatever you want to “share” with others. This unobtrusive and inconspicuous approach can make the difference between success or failure, and possible website expulsion.

Social network marketing is free internet advertising in its most potent and subtle form. So, take the time to learn extensively what works, step-by-step. Then, apply yourself to success proven strategies and techniques which the experts are using to earn six figure residual incomes on a monthly basis. I recently learned that many internet newbies are achieving their marketing and financial goals within six months or less. And, they are not spending a dime on advertising, just the perfected art of social network marketing. If they can be successful, you can be successful. See what these newly successful,  aspiring internet millionaires are doing and how some have advanced to an automated marketing system which helps them create auto-pilot Internet income.

See what these newly successful,  aspiring internet millionaires are doing and how some have advanced to an automated marketing system which helps them create auto-pilot Internet income.

Social Network Marketing is a term we are going to be hearing a lot as Social Media and Network Marketing are drawn together. Network marketing has always been a social experience, so what’s the big deal? Social networking is the big deal and it is going to get much, much bigger.

Studies not so long ago indicated that the 500 million plus Facebook users didn’t pay much attention to the Facebook ads. It was thought that people go to Facebook to hangout with friends and not much more. However, that may be changing. The fastest growing user group on Facebook are women in the 55 – 65 age group.

Yes, these are the same women that make 80% of the family buying decision. Turns out that currently the majority of Facebooks advertising revenues are from casual gaming promoters. Why? The users of casual games (Farmville, mafia wars) are women.

A recent PopCap study showed that 55 percent of all social gamers in the U.S. are women. The average age of the women users is 48. Interestingly, 46 percent of American social gamers are 50 or older while only 6 percent of all social gamers are age 21 or younger. So, it appears the kids aren’t playing the Facebook games as much as the women who just happen to be the target of most advertisers.

Why is this such good news for network marketers? Since women make up approximately 85% of the distributor force it would seem that a lot of our new distributors are on Facebook and other social media sites waiting for us to contact them.

How do we contact them? Advertising? Not on your life. Social media marketing is about communicating, not advertising. Recent studies have shown that while 78% of consumers trust peer recommendations only 14% trust advertisements. That brings us back to the question, how do you contact them?

Obviously, if consumers want peer recommendations the trick is going to be how to get them to listen to your recommendations. The key is to establish a Web presence that establishes you as a peer and an expert.

Networking presentations were once dominated by presentations that brought forth an emotional response. There was the saying that “people hear your music not your words.” In fact, scientific studies indicate that an audience is influenced 7% by your content, 38% by your vocal presentation and 55% by your visual presence. The keys to great presentation were your tonality and your enthusiasm.

How do we make inspiring presentation using social media? Sincerity. Yep, there it is again, you have to be real. You must be authentic and transparent. Presentations using social media are not a filled with emotional triggers. For a social media product launch when you are filling a specific need by providing specific product you may be able to be effective by using hard sell and emotional triggers. However, using social media to find compatible business partners requires that you build a relationship.

Sure you have webinars, product presentations and meetings over the Internet, however, they are just extensions of your relationship building. These events are not what creates a social network marketing organization. The important elements to creating your online social network marketing organization are the social media funnels you develop to encourage people to want to find out more about you and ultimately join you or purchase what you have to offer.

Your social network marketing matrix consists of your Facebook site, twitter account, YouTube channel, blog, website, newsletter and/or capture page. You are creating a funnel that will pre-qualify your business partners. By the way, the pre-qualifying goes both ways. Your potential partners are using the elements of your social network marketing matrix to determine if they want to get to know you better and possibly become your business partner.

Do you need all of these elements to integrate social media into you network marketing business plan? Yes. It takes some time to set things up properly, however, once your funnels are in place you will have the tools to build an online home based business social networking organization that is yours and will last.

This type of online marketing is successful as you have the choice to choose which segment to target by selecting the particular sites for social networking.

Unethical marketing practices on social media websites has backfired…badly. As in all marketing situations, it pays to have integrity. While much of social networking is out of your hands, there are many factors that you can control that will keep you out of the hot seat.

The first thing that you must always keep in mind when you embark on a social network marketing campaign is that you are joining a community. As with any community, business has its rightful place, but it does not have the right to invade people’s privacy. In your face, non-targeted, spam marketing will get you nowhere in a hurry.

Most social network marketers use websites like FaceBook and MySpace to try to drive traffic to another website. While it’s perfectly ethical to use social networking websites to spread a message to people who are genuinely interested, many people game the system with auto-friend adding programs and spam messages and bulletins. Again, anything non-targeted and spammy will not help your reputation.

Thankfully, social networking websites are becoming wise to these practices and are effectively weeding out and banning offenders.

As mentioned earlier, to use such websites as a marketing tool with integrity you need to participate as a member of the community. Get involved in groups that are related to your area, contribute, communicate and make friends that are genuinely interested in what you have to say and what you have to sell.

As you begin to publish more content on these websites, try to avoid direct marketing platitudes. For success, your content will need to be of genuine value and interest to other users. Also, never mislead potential clients. Don’t overdue your titles to try and lure clicks from visitors.

For example, instead of leaving a post on a blog pretending to be a consumer recommending your website or product, be up front about it. Explain that the product or website is yours and how it is relevant to the discussion. People will eventually see through dishonest marketing methods, even if they don’t right away. And one mistake could cost your reputation.

Also, when contributing in social networking websites, never use it as an opportunity to unfairly criticize competitors or their products. Don’t point out shortfalls. Point out what makes you different.

Since social network marketing can be seen as a form of publishing, be aware of online copyright issues. Read up on the basics of media law and know the potential dangers when it comes to defamation, invasion of privacy and intellectual property, and copyright infringement.

There are no hard and fast rules governing ethical behavior in social network marketing. Most communities are self regulated. So, be on your best behavior and you shouldn’t have any problems.

Best answer:

Answer by Sufi
It’s like tupperware of amway. You try to sell things to your friends. Like mary Kay. You have parties in people’s houses and then try to sell them things…through social pressure. I hate it because you are trying to use ‘friends’ for financial gain and i feel it taints the relationship. They sell baskets home decor and lingere and lots of stuff this way. Pampered chef. But i hate being invited to those kind of parties.
