SEO Traffic Generation: Indexing Your Site Into Search Engines Quickly

SEO Traffic Generation: Indexing Your Site Into Search Engines Quickly

In order to have success with your website, you have to generate traffic using exposure to your website. Getting web exposure requires being indexed. By simply submitting your sites, you are guaranteeing yourself a place in the inventory of websites search engines direct traffic to. The key to getting noticed quickly is to get your sites link on a highly ranked page. This works so well because highly ranked pages get spidered more often than those websites who are not as highly ranked. If you are linked into one of these pages with higher rankings, then the search engines spiders will move into your site as well as through those links. Getting there is the most important part, as well as the part that pays big.

To get linked into one of these sites, one option is purchasing advertising space. You can spend – and get placed on their site, which will then index your site due to the fact your link is on that highly-ranked domain. After your advertising time is over, you can either continue or terminate your purchase, but will enjoy being indexed very quickly, regardless. This strategy is a strong option if you have the extra cash available to spend; otherwise, there are other free options.

The second way to get noticed is to join a highly ranked forum and leave posts about various pertinent topics. Leaving useful posts, most forums will allow you to then include a signature with your website address in it. You can also leave comments on popular blogs and include similar tag boxes. While making such posts, be sure that you do not use no follow tags, otherwise you are just leaving a comment that will go unnoticed by the search engines. Making sure your signature links back to your website, as this is what increases your search engine optimization.

In the world of the internet- search engines are king. When building a website, making your way into the highly-ranked pages of these search engines is the ideal way to generate targeted traffic and being it to your website in droves. High levels of directed traffic will help you increase sales- the more people you attract, the better your chances are of selling your products and services. Another great benefit is the ability to build lists of prospects- mailing lists are a great way to keep traffic informed about your site.

Finally, you have increased opportunity to expose your brand and your sites popularity- the more people know about you (and the more they can pass on) the more people are going to know about your site. With all of these strategies working for you, it is easy to say how, combined, they can prove to be a force to reckon with when it comes to getting streams of traffic to your site. These methods are simply a couple of ways to get links to your website on highly-ranked pages. There are several other methods you may use as well.

The Eight Things You Must Do To Optimize Your Site For Search Engines – Missed By Over 98.4%

The Eight Things You Must Do To Optimize Your Site For Search Engines – Missed By Over 98.4%

Search engines are better at spidering than you. Of course, you need a professional looking site, easy to navigate, appropriate content and size. Many webmasters and sites are great at displaying graphics (flash) and visually appealing sections on their sites. However, the search engines really don’t care much about that. If you can give the spiders what they want, they not only will eat it up fast, but you will provide content-rich, relevant data to their index (database). As time, content, size and relevancy increase, you will rise up in the search engine results pages. Properly applied search engine optimization techniques and online marketing principles will help you.

The 3 most important search engines to optimize for are Google, Yahoo, and MSN. (Ed Note: Google owns over 50% of the market today, and is growing fast every day. This includes their exposure via partners like Ask, Earthlink, DogPile, etc). For you to get elevated and relevant rankings you must get into the search engine indexes, and we recommend you start with Google. You should get spidered by Google in less than 3 weeks if applied correctly, but a long term approach to SEO work is needed. You can expect to see your listing within 2-4 months for some pages, and as much time as 2 years for certain keywords/phrases within those.

I invite you to take a look at the starter list below. These are steps you can start today and it is fairly easy and impactful.

Number 1: Learn the SEO concepts.
SEO tries to ensure that your web pages appear at the top of the search engines for target keyword requests. It increases brand awareness, qualified traffic and revenue. Fact: Only 1/2 of the people visiting look at the sponsored (paid) ads (PPC) and only 20% of those actually click. However, 4 out of 5 total clicks – apply their mouse on natural search results. Therefore SEO done right can really elevate your business visibility and revenue. Additionally, the top 5 sites returned from any search are where the action is. Your goal? You should be in the top 10 (Search Engines Results Pages (SERPS)) for your selected keywords.

Number 2: Research the competition.
I am sure you do this no matter what business you are in – whether online or not (brick and mortar). If not, this is one of the big steps missed by online businesses. There are techniques on how to do this effectively, quickly and with high quality results.

Number 3: Linking Strategies and Relevancy.
One of the most important things you can do is to build out your relevant linking neighborhoods. There are a number of great tools you can use to automate this, but we have found that via email and the phone (we are amazed by how many do not use the phone)—you will establish a closer relationship with your virtual partners, and even though you may only spend an hour a day building link partners, it is well spent. Typically, only 1-2 will exchange links with you out of 8 companies called. However, let us say you get one quality link per day through the year. That is over 300 quality links that will help your relevancy, build your business and get your PR(Page Rank) level moved up.

Number 4: Proper HTML and Site Building.
There are many articles written on this topic. If you are not HTML-savvy, it can be a challenge. However, it is not hard to learn, and many tools are available. Just search for free website design tools. Other SEO tools can analyze your content, HTML syntax and appropriate application of tags like TITLE, H1, META tags, BODY content and more. You must also make notes of server-side issues, including IP numbers that may have belonged to (and still do) block listed ranges.

Number 5: Meet The Search Engines.
Make sure you read the webmasters guidelines on all the search engines, especially Google, Yahoo and MSN. They actually are very helpful, and they want you to do well, contrary to what you believe or have heard. Also, keep in mind, there are robotic search engines, algorithmic based search engines and AI-type search engines – different styles of writing. Additionally, you must include listings in the directories, like DMOZ (free, but takes weeks to get listed), Yahoo (free, months – or paid, immediate). Lastly, you must study and learn the PPC (pay-per-click) strategies, learn how to write ads, copy writing for (cash) landing pages, and implement a solid back-end sales process. If you have never used the AdSense programs, you may be missing out on significant income, but many do it incorrectly. We have seen adsense programs go from .00/day to over ,000/month.

Number 6: Use a proven methodology.
None of the SEO “white hat” (opposite: “black hat” – unethical) strategies are rocket-scientists-qualified only. The key areas to keep working on are: a) keyword research, b) competitive analysis, c) analyze your own site(s), d) submit your site(s), e) monitor rankings, f) Reporting, g) link development and h) dynamic site mapping. This approach works, and used by many of the professional SEO companies in the industry.

Number 7: Learn how to use the SEO tools.
Metaphor: For many home-owners, the worst thing that can happen when approaching any project, large or small – is not having your tool belt attached. Even worse, if there are tools missing from that belt after spending 15 minutes retrieving the ladder, lining it up just right, then scaling it just to get to the top of the roof—you not only feel aggravated, but plain stupid.

Being affiliated with some of the guru-type tools & specialists in the industry is nice, but most people are not. Therefore, free tools are a good place to start (search for seo tools and seo email courses). These will help you get to work immediately, and you don not have to come down off the roof to get them.

Number 8: Relevancy, Relevancy, Relevancy. Why be “search relevant”?
The objective here is to make the search engines “see”. You must always ensure that you insert unique relevant content such that the page becomes more worthy of a high ranking in the search engines. You must also make sure you adhere to Style Guide Requirements. The ultimate objective is not to make an inferior page appear superior, but to actually make it superior. Yes, you must be relevant – for any site – be it a commerce/shopping type site, to an information page about Da Vincis life (and, if you have something to sell, that is great). Do not try any uncommon tricks, especially not for the search engines. You will regret it. There are too many sad stories of revenues and business lost from “black hat” strategies (cloaking, spamdexing, link farms). They appear to work for a little while, and suddenly you are gone from the listings and not easily turned around. Be relevant and ethical. It may take a little longer, but you will win out in the end.

An Internet Home Business Needs To Build A Relationship With The Search Engines In Order To Survive

An Internet Home Business Needs To Build A Relationship With The Search Engines In Order To Survive

Copyright (c) 2010 Bryan Beckstead

I write about owning an Internet Home Business because I own one and I have 30 plus years experience working with people who have worked from home long before computers were commonplace in homes. Owning an Internet Home Business has an added dilemma to the process of actually taking an idea, a concept, and making it an actual business, the problem of traffic and that relationship with the search engines.

Even though I have worked with thousands of people over their years in regards to their own business, I am a newbie to a large extent when it comes to me personally setting up shop on the Internet. It has been a very steep, sharp learning curve, one that is still creeping up on me. I have made some huge mistakes over the last year, ones that have cost me dearly in time, effort and resources. They say, “What does not kill you will make you stronger.” If that is the case, I am definitely much stronger than I was even a year ago.

I want to start to delve into the relationship between an Internet Home Business owner and the search engines at large. I will touch on a few of the areas that I think you should be aware of and need to pay some attention to. I will pull no punches, and in the process will tell you of some of the massive mistakes that I have made, in the hopes, you do not make them as well. If you are squeamish, you may want to stop reading here, the rest of this is very disturbing, especially when you consider I actually made these mistakes!

Mistake Number 1

I actually did not spend any time on picking or selecting any keywords for my web site, or for my content, or articles, for the fist 9 months that I was trying to make money on the Internet. There, I said it. I look back and I still cannot believe I made such a massive mistake. Yes, there is a great deal to do when you are starting an Internet Home Business. I have been doing it, off line, for 30 years, which makes my mistake even more embarrassing.

I basically wasted the first 9 months of my start on the Internet with this huge omission. I did do a lot of work, some of it is salvageable, but a large amount of it, because of it having no keywords, will be lost. That is my opinion, others have disagreed with me, but we all agree, a little of the proper work at the beginning, could of salvaged all of it.

In one sentence, you need keywords on everything you create, keywords will let the search engines find you, and in turn, will let the search engines’ customers find you. And that means that, hopefully, the traffic will start to flow to your Internet Home Business. When you think traffic for your business, you have to think keywords and search engines, all in one sentence. No keywords, no search engines, no traffic. Do not make the mistake that I made.

Mistake Number 2

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is a combination of art form and science, take your pick of which one is more prevalent. Another glaring error that I made was this one: I made a web site with only one purpose in mind; to make it attractive and functional to my potential customers. How stupid was I! In the reality of owning an Internet Home Business, we have to serve two masters; one: our potential customers, and the other: the search engines. One without the other equals no business.

Building a web site without considering the design features that will make your site “search engines friendly” is like opening up a new business in the basement of your house and not telling anyone about it. It could be a great business, but if no one ever gets to see it, what’s the point? If you do not get indexed on the search engines, no one who uses the search engines to find web sites will ever get to see you.

You may not have known it at the time, but when you decide to set up shop on the Internet, you acquired a partner: the search engines. They may be a silent partner, but never forget their impact on your business and the power they have over us. If you want your Internet Home Business to be successful, be prepared to work closely with the search engines. They will be your best friend or your worse nightmare; it all depends upon you.

Optimizing Websites for Search Engines

Optimizing Websites for Search Engines

Free Tools for Search Engine Optimization

They key to optimizing websites for search engines in order to generate organic traffic is to continue to execute each component of the SEO plan that we have discussed in previous discussions. The foremost component for having your website become more visible among the major search engines to continue to produce new content that will be spidered. The general rule of thumb is that for each 100 words that you develop, one new visitor will come to your website on a monthly basis. Of course, it is not simply a matter of putting up a small amount of words with the anticipation that you will generate the traffic that you are seeking.

When you are optimizing websites for search engines you should continually build on the new content that you have developed over time. One of the common misconceptions when attempting to generate organic search engine traffic is that you should have many sites that feature a small level of content that all link back to your primary website. It is far better to have one website that features 100,000 different words (among the many articles and blog posts) that you will produce rather than having ten sites that each have 10,000 words. Search engine optimization becomes a self fulfilling prophecy over time. The more content that you add to your site the more your site is viewed as relevant by the major search engines. This can also be attributed to the fact that for each new article or blog post, you site is able to increase its PageRank because internal links are developed each time you put up a new category or article as it pertains to your ecommerce SEO campaign.

One of the other keys for optimizing websites for search engines is to continually focus on generating appropriate inbound links that will assist the major search engines in finding your site more quickly. Additionally, the usage of inbound links will drive additional traffic to your website from the sites that link directly to the content and products that are available on your website. However, you do not need to have thousands of inbound links in order to engage an appropriate ecommerce SEO campaign. Again, if a major search engine sees that your site has developed thousands (if not tens of thousands) of inbound links very quickly then the algorithms that you use will make the assumption that you have engaged in search engine optimization techniques that are frowned up. One of the common misconceptions is that PageRank is directly related to the number of inbound links on your website. Nothing could be further from the truth. As we have showcased in one of our previous articles, we successfully have developed several PR4 ranked websites without engaging in an inbound linking campaign. This was simply accomplished by producing as much relevant content for the websites that we have owned and developed (on behalf of clients).

The usage of a SEO services company should focus on producing a tremendous amount of new content for your website. If you are willing to make an expansive investment for your search engine optimization for your ecommerce platform then you realized that on a per word basis you can anticipate that you will spend two cents to ten cents per word produced.

Also, as your are optimizing your websites for search engines – you should roll out the new content that you have produced over a moderate period of time. If you develop 100,000 words of new content for your ecommerce platform then you should spread the content roll-out over a period of one to two months. Much like generating too many inbound links too quickly, producing and releasing content too quickly may also be viewed negatively by the major search engines. As with any search engine optimization campaign, the key is to develop your ecommerce website (or informational portal) at a measured pace.
