Writing Articles And Submitting Them To Search Engines

Writing Articles And Submitting Them To Search Engines

In the last chapter we discussed the purpose of your blog, Like I said if it’s to earn loads of money then you could be in for the long haul. Either way I’m going to show you some simple ways of creating Traffic to your tiny Island.

Just to make clear from the beginning  I AM NOT affiliated to any of the links in this Article, I will not make 1 single penny from the referrals, the links are purely to help you along your way to getting your Blog recognized……

Onward we shall go.

Some Guru’s, the ones who tell you “you don’t even need a website or Blog to create income from their proven system” are quite often right, however this invariably leaves you needing to advertize or possibly start an e-mail campaign….

These so called Guru’s show you the massive proof of earnings on their squeeze pages, gets you excited doesn’t it, first of all this is how much they’ve earned…..

No, No and No again, this is how much they’ve taken, how much have they spent in advertising, so what’s their real profit?

On order for them to gain, or stay top ranked, they need to work consistently,  pay someone else to do it, or advertise.

The same applies to YOU, professional article writers are well paid.

Advertising can be cheap but you need a lot of it, 3 dollars a month here and 5 dollars a month there can soon add up to several hundred dollars a month. What do you get for your 3 or 5 dollars, very little, 35 to 50 dollars per ad maybe will get you a bit more.

So possibly you think about taking their advice of “starting an e-mail campaign”;

You Simple attach a signature to your outgoing e-mails so everyone who gets your e-mail has a direct link to your squeeze page, your affiliate link they have provided you with in the package you bought.

Great !!!, NO, NO and NO again….

Why?

Take a look in your e-mail address book, is there anyone in there you don’t know, these people are your FRIENDS, family, work colleagues, possibly even your bank manager.

How embarrassing would that be?

Do you REALLY want to ram your squeeze page down their throats???

If your just creating a Blog to have your own personal space, share your thoughts, holiday or Wedding snaps then join Face book or the like, why do you need a blog.

So let’s start to be honest…..

You have other reasons,

Mine are,

To help others, Primary objective.
To try to make a few, and when I say a few I mean a few extra bucks in the bargain.
Meet and make new Friends.

For example my motives in this blog are to bring you to the realization that Blogging for money can be very time consuming, so let’s take it easy, have some fun, enjoy what we do and gain by the experience.

Whatever your motives are is irrelevant to me, all I know is you need to create visitors to your Island, nourish them and invite them back for another visit.

So, here we Go.

Do your research on your chosen topic, no matter how much you think you know there’s always more to learn.
Write well, just because you maybe an expert in your field doesn’t mean others are… make things simple to understand.
Use short introductory paragraphs to gain the reader’s attention.
USE Keywords but be warned use the key words sparingly, let people and the search engines know what your article is about but don’t over or under do it, for example if you don’t use your key words enough, search engines won’t pick up on them, that’s fine for your readers because they won’t be getting bored reading the same thing over and over again, if you overdo it search engines may view your article as Spam and probably put you in their “sand box” where you could remain for a long time, not only will the search engines regard your article as Spam but probably so will your readers….visit http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/it might help, sign up for their 7 day free trial. Indecently I AM NOT AFFILLIATED TO ANY OF THE LINKS IN THIS ARTICLE, I DON’T MAKE 1 SINGLE PENNY FOR REFFERALS.
Use correct spelling and Grammar, difficult for me because I’m Dyslexic, If it wasn’t for spell check you surely wouldn’t be reading this 🙂
Try to be informative, interesting, funny, unique….
Try to install the want or need for your visitors to come back, make your Island a nice place to visit, encourage them to want to leave comments or even become a follower, the more people find your Island Interesting the more people will add it to their favorites or bookmark list.

In my first article How to create a blog I explained how to add a post or an article to your Blog, so now you’ve written something, it’s time to post it, follow the instructions in that article, view your blog or preview how It’s going to look and click on ” publish”.

That’s it you’ve done it….

Now its time to submit your Blog to Google, one of, if not the leading search engine, go to http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl or click this link.

Copy your URL and paste it in the URL box, next, give a brief description of the content of your blog or article, ie. In Heartcare4life I used the title of my first post, Prevention is better than cure, Google will pick up on the rest.

Type in the squiggly confirmation text into the box below and click on the little box “ADD URL”

Don’t expect miracles, the Google bot will now do its work and put your site where it thinks it belongs. Depending on your URL, content, keywords, and competition on the same subject will depend your position in Google listings, But at least you’ve made a start.

Next go to   http://www.acomputerportal.com/Simple_Submit_130_Engines/SmE_Fast_Submit.php add your URL  and this time your e-mail in the box provided, click on the “check all” link below the “submit my site” box, this will highlight and tick all the search engine boxes, click on “submit my site” and wait until it’s finished it’s work.

You have now completed the first simple step, still a very long way to go, but you’ve made a start.

That’s it for today, my one finger typing digit is tired, hopefully I’ll see you for the next step.

Like I said Take it easy, have fun and enjoy the ride.

Hi my name is Mike, My primary objective is to try to persuade people to look after their most valuable asset, THEIR HEALTH. Hence my passion is my first blog http://heartcare4life.blogspot.com/ my second objective is to help people create blogs using understandable simple terms.

Submit to the search engines on your own and then monitor it

My client Yanai is a hair stylist in Beverly Hills specializing in curly hairstyles. Yanai is talented, hard working, and has curly hair! We managed to rank his website (yanaivan.com) to the top of the Google search results. Yet many days he waits for customers in his salon. Frustrated for the lack of business, he calls me asking, ‘what do I do? My site is number one on Google. Why is no one calling me?”

I tell him, “Just because your site is number one on Google doesn’t mean it generates traffic!”
It only means you are #1 on Google. Being on top of the searches is one thing, people entering your website is a different matter.

We researched the volume of traffic entering Yanai’s website and found that only 50 visitors a month enter his website. Weak!

Businesses should take responsibility for their web site’s performance on search engines. Three important things to do: (1) submit your site; (2) Monitor your site’s traffic; (3) and generate traffic from different sources.

SUBMIT YOUR WEBSITE:

Start an account on Google.com.
They have great tools to help you monitor your site performance.

Select the most popular keywords to embed into your website.
Note, I mentioned popular keywords! Log onto https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal’ and select words that pertain to your website and searched by high volume of people. Then have your Webmaster add those terms into the ‘title tag’ and ‘content’ on your website’s homepage.

Submit your site to Google, Yahoo, and DMOZ
These are the big three. We all know about Google and Yahoo, but what is DMOZ?
DMOZ is the ‘Open Directory Project’. Why so important? Because Google gets much of it’s information from this site.Google: ‘http://www.google.com/addurl/’ Yahoo: ‘http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/submit’ DMOZ: ‘http://www.dmoz.com’ Add to Google’s Local Search Engine
So we now operate in a global economy. However, Yanai is a hairstylist in Beverly Hills. What good does it do if his site appears in a Tokyo search results?  Unless he’s committed to traveling across the ocean to give a haircut for some serious cash and authentic sushi, it’s unlikely to help him.

Within your Google account, click on “Local Business Center” icon and follow the instructions. Google will list your company name within their directory, so if someone type’s in Beverly Hills curly hair stylist, Google will supply Yanai with a map to his business location, contact number, and he can upload videos and reviews.

Add an XML site map to your website
Why? Because Google likes to know about the different pages on your website and whatever Google likes, you must comply. A site map is a file that identifies the files within your website faster and more efficiently. To generate a site map go to ‘http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/’. Follow the instructions and download your site map.
The file should have an extention, ‘.xml’ like sitemap.xml.

Upload the site map to your website directory. Then log into your Google account, click on ‘webmaster tools’ and follow the instructions to submit your sitemap.

MONITOR THE WEBSITE TRAFFIC, YOURSELF!
That’s right monitor the traffic yourself. Do not rely on Webmasters.

Google Analytics:
Analytics is the only online tool you need to analyze your website traffic. Log in to your Google account and click on Google Analytics link. Follow the instructions there to generate the code for you or your Webmaster to install into as many web pages you want to monitor.

Use Webmaster Tools
Not just for webmasters, these tools will monitor the efficiency of your website. Most people are not aware that Google looks for sites that are clean and free of errors such as missing pages and bad links.

Pages that irk Google are: Links on websites that links to non-existent pages Time Out – If page appears there, seconds later not there! Unreachable – Page exist, but server problems Sites maps with unusable or non-existent web addresses

GENERATE TRAFFIC FROM DIFFERENT SOURCES

Don’t just rely on Google or Yahoo for web traffic. You need to do whatever it takes to generate traffic to generate business. Here is a list of possible ways to increase traffic to your website.

Link Exchange: Ask friends, colleagues, and especially owners of high volume websites that generate high volume traffic. You can add a like to their website, but make sure they add your link to theirs. Both parties will benefit from each other’s traffic

Social Networking Sites: Go on Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace to network, network, network! These are great places to communicate news and information regarding your company.

Mass Email: Build an email list of names and emails. Then, when possible, send out emails and be sure to include a link back to your website.

Pay for an ad on a large email list. While most companies will not share list, ask that company if, for a fee, you can add a banner or some verbiage that links back to your site.

Radio / TV / Newspaper: Publicize your website. If you have the money, use these.

I hope this article helps. If I can be of service or if you need any more information feel free to email me at jimh@crystaldi.com.

Submitting Websites to Search Engines

Submitting Websites to Search Engines

Whilst there are many ways to get your website noticed arguably submitting your website to a search engine is the best. What is the best way to get your website to the attention of the Search Engines? The first thing to beware of are companies that promise automatic submission to hundreds of search engines. In the main these promises are false. Maybe there are companies that can achieve this but to be honest I have yet to find one. Frankly the best way is to submit your website to search engines is to do it yourself or alternatively hire an expert to manually contact search engine companies and/or directories on your behalf. Whatever you do you should refrain from submitting an incomplete website. You must ensure that your website is finished to a professional standard.

The right keywords, good graphics and certainly relevant content are all important. Take time to get it right and ensure that all the pertinent information is included especially your name and contact information!

However submitting your website to a search engine company will not guarantee that it will be listed immediately or that the ranking (position on site) will be high. There are thousands of new websites completed every day so it could take time for your site to be reviewed.

Please remember to include a site map of your website. This will make crawling by the web robots easier. In fact some search engine companies like Google may not even consider submissions without sitemaps.

So what is a sitemap?

A sitemap is normally one page (although sometimes a group of pages) which lists all or at least most of the pages on your website. Basically you can think of a sitemap as being similar to the index showing the chapters of a book. The reason it is important is that the crawlers can search out the website easier using the site map (index) i.e. they look at the titles of each “chapter” of your site to get the general “feel”. This enables them to categorise your site correctly. Please see the separate report on this subject.

I mentioned above that it is not advisable to use companies that promote automatic submission of your website to search engines. However that doesn’t mean that you should ignore the many online companies that do provide search engine submission services. There are software packages available that enable you to do your own submissions or if you want professional help then this is available on line too. Just avoid the” automatic” promotions.

There are thousands of search engine and directory companies to which you can submit your website including some of the best known like Google and Yahoo. Just do a search on the web.

So my advice is to make sure that your website is submitted to as many search engines as possible. Bear in mind though that a poor website can do damage to your image/brand so ensure that you do due diligence before submitting. Take your time, learn as much as you can first then send your professional site for all to see and begin your journey to success.
