Which Search Engines To Focus Your SEO On?

Which Search Engines To Focus Your SEO On?

Ah the wonderful world of search engine optimization and search engine marketing. I could write all day and night about it (and sometimes I do!).

But the world of SEO and SEM can be confusing (that’s an understatement!) especially if you are somewhat new to the industry. Everyone and his or her brother think they know what the secret is to getting a top search engine ranking and all the free, highly targeted traffic that comes with it.

But the truth is, very few people really know – and the ones that do know, don’t *really* know. Only the search engines themselves really know, the rest of us just trial and error figure it out and piece things together that *mostly* work today.

But then the search engines go and change the rules, and we have to start all over again learning the new rules (that the search engines never tell us!).

And besides, the people that are really good at figuring out these rules and applying them to get good rankings are usually out there DOING it! They are making lots and lots of money either ranking their own web sites and cashing in that way, or working for clients and charging an arm and a leg.

They don’t have time to sit and explain their secrets to you, and they wouldn’t want to anyway! A secret is no longer a secret if everyone knows about it!

Ah, you ask, but you Jason are talking to us today?! What gives?

Well it’s true, I am talking to you today, but I’m not telling you my secrets! I’m here today to share some basic information, common knowledge that you need to know to do any SEO or SEM work but won’t get me in trouble for giving away the store (if you know what I mean!).

So the first thing many people ask me is this: which search engines should I focus on?

That’s an excellent question. There are thousands of search engines out there, millions maybe even. But the fact is, 99.9% of them are completely useless and worthless because no one uses them to search for web sites!

Instead, you really want to focus on just the main three search engines. Those are, in order of importance, Google, Yahoo and Bing. If you have lots of free time you can also focus on ask.com but they are not hardly worth it anymore.

The big three are the ones to focus on, and maybe even just the big 2, Google and Bing, because Yahoo and Bing signed a deal late last year 2009 to allow Yahoo to use Bing search results as the primary search results on Yahoo. So for all intents and purposes, when this agreement goes into effect in the first quarter 2010, there will be no more Yahoo search engine. (Ie, if you get your site listed in Bing, it will show up in Yahoo because Yahoo will be showing Bing search results).

So there you have it, focus on Google and Bing. I usually just focus on Google, because they have 65% of the search traffic in the world and Bing/Yahoo have another 30%.

And see…I haven’t given away any trade secrets at all!

Sales Training For Engineers & Techies.

Part 3 or 3 Whoa…it’s sure been busy here around The New PPC office. Last week we did a presentation at Mike Filsaime’s event in Long Island. It was really weird standing in front of a group of the biggest marketers in the online marketing world and showing them what we’ve been up to with our PPC stuff… The weirdest part was seeing the looks of amazement on their faces. We actually stunned the “gurus”. And we decided that this information should NOT be limited to the people who attended that 00 per ticket workshop…so we put all the information into a new video for you. The video starts with a few basics (hey, even some top marketers are just NOW getting started with PPC)… and then we quickly show you the thing that got everybody in Long Island all lathered up… “The Perpetual Keyword Money Machine” Yeah, we know, it sounds a little “hypey”. But check out the video and see for yourself that it’s a great description. Nothing for sale in the video, and you don’t have to give us your email address: Here’s a sample of what’s in this video… – Broad Matching. How to avoid losing money by choosing the wrong keywords. – Phrase Matching… and the secret of grouping words together to lower your PPC costs and raise your ROI immediately. – Exact Matching. It is what it says… how to show people exactly what they’re looking for. And nothing else. – Negative Keywords and how you can “screen” your traffic. Only pay for profitable clicks, not for the money-suckers

Better Search Engine Rank – Are Link Exchanges The Answer?

Better Search Engine Rank – Are Link Exchanges The Answer?

Want To Make More Money Using Our Free Google Automated Income Kit? See How.

True or false – You can only get a better search engine rank if you maximize the number of link exchanges performed. Or, so say the SEO geniuses.

Believe them or not?  Maximize the number of link exchanges for a better search engine ranking or face certain economic death? What’s the answer?

In the past, the number of link exchanges was simple to count and was enough to get a better search engine rank for your web site. Today, though, complex and highly guarded mathematical equations are used to determine ranking. Inner circles of geeks guard these equations and outsiders can only speculate what they are. But because of the tremendous increase in websites and in usage, the equations are the only way these rankings can be determined.

Search engine optimization experts are emerging, though, with a message that we should be leery of link exchanges when trying to recieve a better search engine rank. The following points should be considered.

1) Beware of link farms – they can turn your good search engine ranking into a whole lot of nothing. A link farm is a site that consists of links.  It could also be a page populated with a nigh number of links. In the old days, people used these to get a better search engine rank but that no longer works. Now, if these links are organized into subjects and/or categories and contain relatively few links per page or site, your ranking might not be harmed. When links are listed in a haphazard manner, there could be the opposite effect.

2) Using sites that are meaningful – or not. If the focus of your website is gardening and lawn care, having links to sites focused on interior decorating, cooking or gambling make not be considered relevant and push down your ratings. On the other hand, links that would help you to get a better search engine rank would probably include garden centers, seed companies and fence installers because of their immediate relevance.

3) Watch your language. Anchors used in linking one site to another is important for obtaining a better search engine rank. Again, going back to a site focused on gardening and lawn care, a phrase like “designer dresses” wouldn’t be helpful at all. A phrase like “ergonomically correct hand garden tools”, would on the other hand would work to assist you in obtaining a good search engine ranking.

What about exchanging links with someone? This is important. You want as many links as possible, but they must be relevant to help you receive a better search engine rank for your web pages. Your visitors pay attention to this. If a visitor sees a link that is relevant, they are likely to follow it. If visitors find links that are offensive, they probably will not be back to your site. For example, if a site intended for self-help groups had links to inspirational or other self-help sites, that would be appropriate. However, if those links were for gambling or alcohol, that might be an aversion and, in the end, you could lose your good search engine ranking if you have one.

You should also be looking for affiliate programs as you start getting a better search engine rank. If you enter the affiliate program and put the appropriate affiliate up, you may find a financial advantage If a visitor to your site follows an affiliate link and makes a purchase, you can earn a commission.

The truth about link exchanges, then is simple. You need to have link exchanges on your site to obtain a better search engine rank on your site. The links must be relevant to improve your standing in search engines. They must offer your visitors an opportunity to access additional resources. Do this and you’ll benefit from the truth about link exchanges, without suffering the consequences.

Selling Info Products on Ebay Rules

Selling Info Products on Ebay Rules

Unlike products that get shipped and lose the reference to your company, infoproducts are an excellent way to establish a constant self-promotion engine that primes your marketing sales. That’s because it’s very easy to link your infoproducts to other online website sales offers that can help you reap repeat customers. In Chapter 8, we will go through a sample online sales pipeline and how to use each step to sell your infoproducts quickly and effectively.

The beauty of self-promotion is that it is uniquely suited to the Internet where self-made experts can reap very big profits, even though they’ve never gone through conventional business channels. For instance, if you are trying to get published with a major publishing house, you will probably face the Catch-22 where they will only publish well-known authors or those people who have already made a name for themselves in their business.

Using the WWW you can make yourself the expert and start to build a marketing platform AND print your ebook to an audience of interested parties, without having to get the approval of a major publishing house. Then, after you’ve convinced everyone that you really are an expert on something, if you want to go through the official channels, it will be much easier to convince them to publish your books.

Great Exposure Worldwide

Another reason that selling infoproducts is so powerful has to do with the exposure of customers all over the world through portals like eBay. In a conventional retail store, you might be able to place your item on commission on their shelves for a period of time, but the exposure that gets you is not the same as if eBay allows you to put your product in front of their members.

There are literally hundreds of millions of registered users in eBay and every single one of them could potentially be your next customer. Obviously the level of exposure you get with eBay for your infoproducts will far exceed printing your book at an independent publisher and then trying to get it put on the shelves of local independent bookstores. Instead, you bypass that entire process and save money in time and effort.

With that number of potential customers out there, you can afford to start pricing your products competitively. Your aim should be to become an eBay Powerseller with your own eBay store to maximize the exposure and help you save costs on listing fees. To generate this amount of product choice and sell effectively on eBay, we will introduce you to different ways to generate infoproduct content that you might not have considered.
Modern Ways Of Doing Business

Now that you’ve made the choice to become a modern business, you shouldn’t have to do everything by hand. Learning how to either buy or generate new content using slick methods can be one way to increase your product line without significant investment. Even if you decide not to go that way, you can also hire third party ghostwriters and use them to generate infoproducts for your online business.

In addition, you will learn about various electronic tools that can make your job of listing and selling much easier. We will discuss eBay templates, CD cover templates, and website templates too. You will want to learn how to market online versus doing so face-to-face and how important email harvesting is to starting a pipeline for your business. From there, you can start to generate revenues not only with your products, but also through affiliate marketing, partner or sponsored offers, and even advertising revenues, if you are smart.

Once you have a good idea on how to use the Internet and eBay to your advantage, all you have to do is locate or create infoproducts that can help you start marketing online. To make it fun as well as potentially profitable, you should pick a niche that you love and that excites you. This will carry through in the subject of the infoproducts yourself, where your enthusiasm can spread like wild fire.

As of March 31, 2008, the rules for selling infoproducts on eBay have changed somewhat. You can no longer use auctions to sell infoproducts that aren’t in physical format unless you choose to advertise them using eBay’s classified ads area. You would do this by listing your virtual infoproducts in the Everything Else > Information Products category. Even doing this, there are additional rules that eBay has disclosed that people using infoproducts must follow to be allowed to work within eBay.
The New Rules

The new rules are:

” No cross categories
The infoproduct cannot contain cross category information.

” Not allowed as a bonus in listings
If you sell other products and want to promote your infoproduct for free as a bonus, you will be violating the terms of agreement with eBay.

” No brand names
Infoproducts should be somewhat generic and shouldn’t promote other brand names and keywords other than that particular product being advertised.

” No excessive keywords
To grab traffic, some promoters resort to flooding their infoproducts with keywords. This is not allowed when using eBay in a classified advertising format.

” Not point to outside URLs, vendors
eBay is really trying to knuckle down on people trying to steal their traffic, so they are not allowing references to outside URLs where they can buy the infoproduct or to other vendor’s products.

For a more comprehensive, up-to-date, listing of the restrictions on selling infoproducts on eBay, be sure to check out eBay.com. The penalties for not following the rules can be severe and can include the following:

” Cancellation of listing,
” Imposing account privilege limits,
” Suspension of your account,
” Forfeiting eBay fees,
” Losing Powerseller status.

This is covered in detail in the eCourse, “Ebay Info Profits”, where I will go over how to list infoproducts that you will be physically shipping to your clients as well as how to list virtual infoproducts. There are differences depending on what you are selling on eBay and you should choose to follow the rules meticulously if you want to become a power seller on eBay.
